Sometimes people think that the way to discover where their emotions lodge is to pay close attention to all of their body sensations all of the time. This is doable, but it will take a lot of energy to be constantly on red alert. Checking in with yourself five times a day is an easier way. A slower and less demanding method than the five times is to notice your body sensations when your emotions are less intense. Your Rational Current is very good at checking in with yourself randomly throughout the day. Here you pair your Rational Current with your Body Sensations and your Emotional Current so they begin to communicate as allies. Note where your emotions lodge in your Travel Log to add to your understanding of your own signals. Tune in to your own frequency, whatever emotion you are experiencing, and resonate with it with some deep breaths. When your emotional intensity is fairly subtle, as few as three deep breaths will allow you to resonate with your emotion and get back to whatever task is at hand. For very intense levels of emotion, you may need to take several deep breaths to give yourself some time and space to acknowledge your emotion. Resistance and antagonism will usually vanish, and collaboration will increase by stressing commonalities. Through practice, it becomes easy to find and concentrate on what we're sharing with others. NLP link is formed by pacing and maintained. Through nature, this is the moving phase, as the other person moves. Pacing or balancing respects the actions of the other person and follows them in their world model. It's about raising an implicit degree of the gaps between yourself and others. You may pace several different aspects of actions or balance them. Naturally, if the other person becomes conscious that you suit their efforts, it becomes mimicry. Apparent attempts to clone people sever relationships. Effective pacing takes place at an unconscious level.

Our problem is the man in the street. He is the man without egotistic drive; Because he seems to lack initiative he is left to his own resources -- of which he seems to have none. To attract him to any organization is difficult enough; But because he forms the bulk of the public he is most worth study, for on him the success of any social organization depends. The first tentative approach to encouraging the members to do things was based on the common assumption that ordinary people like to emulate their betters; That method of approach we have found useless; Primarily, individuals are conscious only of their own capacity and act accordingly. They may admire, they may even be envious of outside standards, but they do not use them even as stimulants to try out their own capacity. Skill beyond their own capacity tends to frighten, to inhibit rather than to tempt them to emulation. I often say to myself I feel ____ to make sure I am in harmony and resonating with what is true for myself at that moment. Paying attention to your body's signals and your emotional state before you go off to buy, invest in, or sell something allows you to avoid or deny an uncomfortable experience that may end up costing you lots more money than you planned. In the midst of an emotional cycle, your rational mind is very busy trying to understand or deny what else is happening. It's not fully available to analyze the financial repercussions of what you are about to do with your money. By paying attention to the subtle signals of your body, eventually you will tune in to the subtle changes in the energy flow around you. The heat you feel in your body could be related to your anger--or perhaps the sunlight streaming through your office window, the fact that you just got back from the gym, or your hormones. Or perhaps the subtle heat in your body when you read the financial news is connected to the hot air that is flowing through the financial markets about some impending change--either for your benefit or as a caution to take very little action. Noticing the sensitivity of your body's signals can enhance your awareness of your wealth and abundance and lead you to spend and save in ways that allow you ride on the River of Gold in a new way. Uncomfortable Emotions When your emotions make you uncomfortable, you resist the flow of that energy.

You may influence the actions of the other person when the relationship is formed. If you'd like to ask if you've got relationships, you should make a move to find out if they're following you. You could scratch your nose, for instance, and see if the other person does the same. What can you match? Matching is something that we all do in some ways, of course. Look what happens when someone is talking to a young child. They can crouch down to the height of the infant, talk slower (or more excitedly). Romantic couples frequently appear to be engaging in dance in restaurants, leaning, and laughing in mirror postures. Body postures The whole body, half body, or part of your body can be changed to suit the other. The status teacher tends inevitably to undermine self-confidence. Our failures during our first eighteen months' work have taught us something very significant. Individuals, from infants to old people, resent or fail to show any interest in anything initially presented to them through discipline, regulation or instruction which is another aspect of authority. We now proceed by merely providing an environment rich in instruments for action -- that is, giving a chance to do things. Slowly but surely these chances are seized upon and used as opportunity for development of inherent capacity. The instruments of action have one common characteristic -- they must speak for themselves. The voice of the salesman or the teacher frightens the potential users. How does this fact reflect on organization and the opportunity for experimental observation on this material? Having provided the members with a chance to do things, we find that we have to leave them to make their own use of them. We have had to learn to sit back and wait for these activities to emerge.

You may add to this mix judgmental thoughts that decrease your energy and flow. Here I shift the focus to emotions that other people treat as uncomfortable. Every family, religious or military organization, and business group has some emotions that they consider outside the bounds of acceptable experience. Usually this view comes from one person, often the leader, resisting an emotion and judging it to be wrong. By announcing to the group in various ways that we don't do that emotion here, the person forces others to omit part of the range of frequencies people experience and broadcast. Fear is a big challenge for the business community. So is sadness. Absolute terror, which is fear at an intense level, is often outside the bounds of acknowledgment and acceptance even among close colleagues. Some members of the military also fall in line here. Yet the possibility of losing a large sum of money or going deeply into debt is the stimulus for large emotions to show up--and for taking huge steps to avoid those emotions, which can be very detrimental to your well-being. It is helpful to satisfy the usual poses the other person gives with his or her head and shoulders. However, if the body posture is odd, it may seem inappropriate to suit. Subtlety is definitive. You may compare a person's breathing rate, where they breathe (chest, abdomen, or stomach), or how deep they are. If the individual is not a proper technique is having breathing difficulties, as you may experience similar symptoms. Matching the speed, volume, pitch, tone, and word form is a bit tricky to learn, but it is worth it. Try watching a television program in a foreign language to note such differences in auditory processing. You needn't try to match all of these things. Select one. If a person speaks slowly, then slow down.

Any impatience on our part, translated into help, has strangled their efforts -- we have had to cultivate more and more patience in ourselves. The alternative to this cultivation of patience is, of course, obvious -- the application of compulsion in one or other of its many forms, perhaps the most tempting of which is persuasion. But having a fundamental interest in the source and origin of spontaneous action -- as all biologists must -- we have had to discard even that instrument for initiating activities. Even temptation, the gentlest form of compulsion, does not work because human beings, even children, recognize carrots for what they ultimately mean; We do not suggest that communion, teaming, regulation, system, discipline, authority and instruction are not desirable things but neither can we agree that there is anything wrong with those who spurn these things; Civilization hitherto has looked for the orientation of society through an imposed system derived from some extrinsic authority, such as religion, cultural education, or political suasion. The biologist conceives an order emanating from the organism living in poise in its environment. Our necessity, therefore, is to secure the free flow of forces in the environment so that the order inherent in the material we are studying may emerge. Our interest is in that balance of forces which sustains naturally and spontaneously the forms of life we are studying. The Centre is the first experimental station in human biology. Business news, for example, is full of stories about actions taken that turn out to be the undoing of the businesses, while below the surface of the activities are unacknowledged emotions and perhaps thoughts about getting even or avoiding losses or poverty. The actions have at their core the very emotions--fear, anger, sadness--that the leader and much of the group are ignoring. Remember that what is sent out comes back with increased energy, like attracting like and resonating together. Action Step Do your spending patterns signal some old sadness? Or some old anger? Your emotions are actually driving your money patterns. And they can drive them away from accumulating and creating wealth and abundance. Right now notice what you are experiencing, flow with it, and allow it to pass. Here is where your breath comes into play.
