Y our foot probably hurts a lot, but beyond hurting, you tell yourself that it does not think anything at all; Now, shift your attention just a little bit further away from your foot. The balance between their good and bad cholesterol levels looked better than ever. On average, their good-cholesterol levels went up, and their bad-cholesterol levels stayed the same. With this in mind, let's look at two types of research: 1. Basic Research and 2. Applied Research. Basic Research is often thought of as theoretical and universal that adds to human knowledge. RAISING YOUR GOOD CHOLESTEROL The reason you may want to lower your bad cholesterol is clear enough. Cholesterol builds up in your arteries and blocks them off. It makes sense to keep the levels down. M0ve beyond yourself as well--how does the world feel about your pain that you are feeling? What does that pain do t you from the perspective of others? How does that pain influence the ways in which you behave? How does it influence the ways in which you are likely to be interacting with the world around you? How is it that you can learn to recognize what really matters for yourself and how you can take care of it?

B y the time that you start asking about how the world around you feels about your pain, you often find that you are so distanced from the paint that was plaguing you that it is no longer a problem at all. You either have dulled the pain somehow or you have removed it entirely, learning how you can remove yourself from dwelling it and therefore changing your thought process. You are changing the narrative behind the pain of your ankle; C ontent Reframing Content reframing is another exercise that you can use that will allow you to essentially reprogram the way that you are thinking. This leads to criticisms about funding academia and research. After all, why fund, things that offer no immediate value? In 1960, Professor Dan Kleppner's goal was not to invent a useful technology. The bottom line: It's good to have lots of HDL. A 1 percent increase in your HDL level lowers your risk of heart disease by as much as a 3 percent decrease in your bad-cholesterol level does. When patients ask doctors how they can raise their HDL levels, they're often told that there isn't much they can do, other than lowering their bad cholesterol to offset the effects of not having enough good cholesterol. It is teaching you to stop and look at your thoughts from a different position entirely. It helps you to discover that you can change your perspective and when you change that perspective, you change everything else, as well. You are able to change the content that you have in your mind through the use of looking at the world around you. You are able to change the way that you think about what has happened, rewriting the story and the narrative behind what you normally feel and how you normally behave. W e all have these narratives within us; When you are able to defeat that narrative you can then begin to make the real, true progress and change that you have been dying to see in life. You can then begin to recognize the ways in which you are better able to see the world. This is a visualization technique that you can use to allow yourself to remove the victim narrative that you may have been living by for far too long. It is a great one for those who have suffered from stress, abuse, or illness and it is a great way to begin to dull the pain of trauma. C ontent reframing typically happens in one of two ways--you either change the content or you change the context. It is used in aviation, farming, marine sciences, surveying, the military, financial services, telecommunications, heavy vehicle guidance, road transportation, and of course your phone. Another way to think about basic research is to think about your own life and how you click through various Wikipedia articles. The only driving force behind your clicks is simple curiosity. What new ideas do you have while clicking aimlessly about various topics that stoke your curiosity? Discovering Your Human Algorithm requires your curiosity and curiosity is the precursor to inventive thought.
