The boy told me that he had had a dream on the seventh night following his affirmation wherein a man with a beard appeared to him and said, Sonny, you are all right now. He woke up and told his father and mother what had happened and said to them, I know I am healed. My analysis and comment I believe that when the parents began to pray together and for each other, as well as for their son, the healing vibrations of peace, harmony, and love impinged on the receptive mind of the boy, resurrecting the wholeness, harmony, and perfection already resident in his subconscious mind. They believed in the Infinite Healing Power of his subconscious mind and believed in what they were doing and why they were doing it. Furthermore, the boy's affirmation accelerated the healing process. In filling his mind with faith and confidence in the healing power of God and with love for his parents, his subconscious mind dramatized the healing which took place in a vivid dream. The Bible says, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream (Num. The Miracle of Changed Attitude Changes Lives At the close of the nineteenth century, William James, referred to as the father of American psychology, said, The greatest discovery in my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind. You should consult your doctor or pharmacist in those cases. Even though I generally make the case for a relaxed management of herbs, they should be taken seriously. Even plants can interact with medications. John's wort takes one to two weeks for its effects to unfold and thus is one of those plants whose effects build up step by step. In the old days it was used to cure infections alongside its mood-lifting qualities. This encompassed the whole body: the mouth, the intestinal tract, the kidneys, and the bladder. For a scratchy throat or a developing cough, gargle with St. John's wort. It acts as a disinfectant and wards off infection. John's wort was further considered a natural potency remedy for both sexes.

Her results showed that, of all the students she tested, it was the bright girls', those who were doing relatively well on the content curriculum, who were most likely to show this lack of resilience: to befailing', in other words, on the learning curriculum. Dweck speculated that the bright girls are the group with the most fragile grasp on learning precisely because they are the students with the least experience of sticking with difficulty, and (sometimes) succeeding. Being bright', they find learning relatively easy, so they encounter difficulty more rarely than a lessable' child. And being girls, they are likely, when they do get stuck - especially when they are young - to be comforted or offered an alternative activity by a teacher, whereas a boy is more likely, so the research shows, to be encouraged to stick with it'. Thus the bright girls are the students who have had the fewest opportunities to build up theirlearning muscles', and their stamina consequently remains weak. Any learners who lack resilience will be fine while learning is going smoothly, but will be prone to fall apart when it gets rocky, and this vulnerability leads them, Dweck discovered, to make conservative learning choices. Those lacking resilience will choose tasks that they know how to handle, and become anxious when a teacher changes the rules, or offers a different, less familiar kind of learning experience. They will, as a result, tend to develop only a narrow range of learning skills, those that offer the highest probability of success. If doing well in a school is defined in terms of the ability to articulate and explain, then only d-mode will be exercised and developed. The risk is that without resilience, some young people, the successes', will overdevelop one side of their learning potential and neglect the other; That is to say, you can have a greater measure of health, vitality, aliveness, and buoyancy if you begin to feed your subconscious mind with life giving patterns of harmony, joy, strength, power, energy, enthusiasm, and victory. How Changed Attitude Healed a Baffling Illness A few weeks ago I spoke to about 1,500 people assembled in the ballroom of the Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. I gave a talk on How to Develop the Healing Consciousness. After the lecture, a young doctor told me of a very interesting and inspiring experience. He said that one night he was called to a home where the parents of a sick girl did not believe in sickness or disease or doctors of any school. The father said to him, My daughter is charged with fear and is afraid she'll die. The doctor examined the girl and told her that her temperature was 102 degrees, but that she would be all right--there was nothing radically wrong and she was in no danger of death. She asked him to pray with her, and he being very religious, did so by quietly reciting the 23rd Psalm with her. She would not take any medicine because it was contrary to her religious belief.

It was used against manipulative love spells, for which it can be useful to this day. Its red extract was seen as a symbol for blood and people connected it to Mary, Joseph, and John (whose name it bears). Breaking Magic Spells and Streaks of Bad Luck John's Wort When you have the feeling that everything around you is bewitched, St. John's wort is among the helpers that effectively drive away this hazy veil. People often make the mistake of looking to the outside when they believe someone bewitched them. The rule is: even when someone has bewitched you, the important thing is how you deal with it. After all, you can option to refuse acceptance, and return to sender. The only thing that matters is how you deal with it in your head. At worst, there is an unenviable choice between stunting and lopsidedness. The learning curriculum, therefore, must first and foremost be committed to the strengthening of resilience, and this requires conveying to young people an accurate view of the many faces of learning, of the mind, and of themselves. Learning sometimes involves confusion, for example, so it makes no sense to create a content curriculum which systematically deprives young people of the opportunity of getting used to being confused and of learning how to deal with it productively; If children learn to feel threatened by ignorance, their resilience will be weakened; Carol Dweck has shown that resilience is also undermined by a false view ofintelligence'. She distinguished between two general views of intelligence or ability'. In one view - the more accurate one which I am using here - ability is seen as a kind of expandable toolkit of ways of learning and knowing. As one learns, so one can also be learning how to learn; The other, which unfortunately tends to permeate educational discourse, seesability' as an innately determined endowment of general-purpose brainpower which places a ceiling on what you can expect, or be expected, to achieve. To say of a child Sally is tall, has brown eyes, and is very bright' is implicitly to be subscribing - and encouraging Sally to subscribe - to the latter view.

He told me that he believed she would be all right, and he pictured her as perfect. A month later, the girl's brother, who had wandered away from the religious beliefs of his parents and sister, and had become in his own right a very successful medical doctor and surgeon, visited the physician and wanted to know what therapy he had given his sister, as she had been suffering from severe epileptic seizures two or three times every week and had now become free from all symptoms and attacks. He said he had tried unsuccessfully to get her to take modern anti-epileptic drugs for several years. The young doctor told the patient's brother that he used no therapy other than suggesting that she would be all right, that there was no danger of death and that she would recover immediately. They were both flabbergasted and dumbfounded for a few moments. The patient's brother broke the silence by saying, All I know is that you gave her a transfusion of faith in the healing power of God, and your positive suggestion found its way to her subconscious mind, which healed her. This young doctor said to me, Had I known she had epilepsy, I would never have been so positive and confident in my approach to her. I can now see that my image of perfect health and complete confidence in her recovery was communicated to her subconscious mind and that my attitude coupled with her new attitude changed everything and brought forth a perfect healing. One year has passed, he said, and she has not had a single seizure. She is now married and drives her own car. No one can bewitch a person who has closed all doors to it. When in doubt, remember it is fear that opens this door. But a string of bad luck can make life difficult. Smudge your home with St. John's wort in this case and thoroughly mop through it after adding St. John's wort to the mop bucket. Sprinkle a little St John's wort tea on the window sills and all thresholds, perhaps even out by the garden gate. Afterward take a candle made of beeswax, write the names of all members of your household (including pets if they are like family members) on it, and apply St John's wort oil to it. To make the oil, leave the herb in a carrier oil for two weeks; (Valeriana officinalis)

In such a view, no amount of effort on Sally's part will change her height, her eye colour or herability'. Dweck's dramatic discovery is that a lack of learning resilience is frequently underpinned by this latter, deterministic view of the mind. A child who agrees with the idea that it is possible to get smarter' is likely to be persistent and adventurous in her learning. A child who disagrees, who thinks that ability is fixed, is more likely to get upset when she fails. Because the fluidtheory' of intelligence encourages a child to stretch herself: by doing so she might become cleverer. That is a possibility for her. For her less fortunate classmate, it is not. She feels herself to be possessed of a certain immutable amount of cleverness, so that failure or confusion, for her, can only be construed as evidence that her ability is inadequate. And the more discomfited she is by this, the more impelled she is to withdraw, hide, defend or attack. The practical lesson of this research for the learning curriculum is that teachers themselves must understand the fluid and variegated nature of learning ability, and use language that conveys this view to children. Changed attitudes can change everything for the better! The Bible says, Thy faith hath made thee whole; Tap the Infinite Power of Love and Your Invisible Matrimonial Guide God is Life, and Life loves to manifest itself through each of us as harmony, health, peace, joy, abundance, beauty, and right action, or, in other words, life more abundant. There is something in all of us that reminds us of our origin and turns us back to the Source. It is our mission and purpose to enlarge this memory so that it grows from a spark to a flame, and we sense and feel our oneness with God--the Source of all life. There is a deep hunger and thirst in you to unite with the Infinite Source of Life--your Maker. When you were born you cried for food. As you grew older, you discovered you could never be satisfied without receiving, in addition, spiritual food such as inspiration, guidance, wisdom, and strength from the Infinite Source of all blessings. The Infinite Life Principle is seeking expression through you, and your love for God is expressed by your desire to feel mentally and spiritually united with the Source of all blessings and all power.
