They say what they mean, and they mean what they say. They know how to use concise language so that the meaning of their words is not mistaken and their intentions are not taken the wrong way. Mentally strong people know how to say no. They know that it's ok to take time to themselves, whether that means saying no to an invitation they don't want to accept or simply staying in on a Saturday night to recharge. Mentally strong people also know when to set boundaries. They are very confident If you don't feel confident about yourself and your skills, you cannot expect someone else to feel confident about you. Real confidence is essential and not false bravado. People often tend to mask their insecurities by merely projecting confidence, instead of being confident. I asked for courage and strength. A few years into my spiritual journey, when I started to pray, Lord change me, is when my husband actually began to change. At first his acting out became worse. Finally after a heartfelt disclosure he started looking for treatment centers. At this time I knew nothing about sex addiction. I was so naive that I didn't even know what a treatment center was. He said he was going for his drug addiction, but he took painstaking steps to pick out just the right one, and today I believe it is because he knew his sexual acting out was controlling him and severely hurting his family. At the encouragement of the treatment program staff, I began therapy with a specialist in sex addiction so I could focus on my trauma issues. I didn't know what was wrong with me or even what had happened to me in my life, but I was willing to look at anything in my life that needed changing, anything. The scriptures told me, Know the truth and the truth shall set you free. This study reviewed more than 18,000 meditation studies over 47 different research trials and found that mindfulness programs improved levels of anxiety, depression, and pain.

In areas where stress can play a large role in flares, such as with inflammatory bowel disease, research has shown that those people with the highest stress markers (measured by urinary cortisol) were the ones who reported better quality-of-life scores with mindfulness practice, even during their flares. Yoga, Learning, and Memory Meditative techniques have been found to augment specific areas of the brain that relate to restfulness, but they also improve attention skills and reaction time to stimuli. These meditative techniques actually shrink areas of the brain involved with anxiety, rage, and low mood. This is called the prefrontal cortex and is associated with working memory (or making new memories). A study from Harvard University showed that parts of the nerve cell called axons, which transmit information to other cells, can increase in the brain of those who meditate. Further, meditation can increase the connections between cells which will increase memory, overall brain function, and resilience to stress. Yoga is another tool that will help your memory and your ability to combat stress, as well as improve overall brain function. Yoga and Alignment A confident person will always stand apart when compared to all those who are indecisive, doubtful, and skittish. Their confidence often inspires others as well. They are good at neutralizing toxic people A mentally tough person can keep his or her emotions in check while confronting a toxic person. Their approach would often be rational. If you want to be mentally strong, then you should be able to identify negative emotions like anger and shouldn't let these feelings get the better of you. They can say no If you want to reduce your chances of experiencing stress and depression, then learn to say no. Saying no is, in fact, good for your mental health. All those who are mentally tough possess the self-esteem and the foresight that helps them say no. I knew I wanted to be free but I wasn't sure what I wanted to be freed from.

I just knew I wanted to get out of the hell that I had been living in. I would discover the shameful self that I had been trained to cover up and eventually forgot was there. It was buried alive, always nagging to come out, and actually coming out sideways in everything I did: how I related to my children, what I thought and felt about myself, and how I related to my husband. Judgment, condemnation, and control oozed from the pores in my skin. I was working with a therapist to address my childhood history and my addiction to a sex addict. That is when I joined a support group at my church with other women whose partners acted out sexually. I also joined a codependency group at my church. The individual therapy would keep my head above water. It was in group I felt the validation I needed to move from a victim mentality, a childlike person, to trusting myself and asking for what I needed. Yoga also incorporates a focus on posture and alignment. Poor posture and alignment have been linked to many medical disorders. Having a curved spine as a result of sitting for 8 to 10 hours per day has many detrimental effects, not only on stature. It also can be the source of pain issues and decreased energy and can play a role in other chronic disease states. Regarding chronic illness, prolonged sitting can cause our muscles to utilize insulin less effectively. This can directly lead to issues with glucose metabolism and eventually with insulin resistance and prediabetes. Prolonged sitting can also be associated with pain syndromes. Strained neck, carpal tunnel, shoulder pain, and lower back and hip pain can all arise from sitting. In an age when most of us sit--commuting to work and sitting in a car for two hours per day, then sitting at a desk for eight hours--our posture and alignment can suffer. Normal alignment requires three curves of the spine, which contains 33 bones arranged as the cervical (C1-C7), thoracic (T1-T12), lumbar (L1-L5), and sacral (S1-S5) sections. If you have trouble saying no

They can embrace failure Failures are very common, and everyone has their fair share of failures in their lives. Mentally tough people are capable of embracing their failures. No one can experience success without knowing what failure is. When you can acknowledge that you are on the wrong path, are aware of the mistakes you are making, and can embrace your failures, only then will you be able to achieve success. They exercise Exercising can help you in finding mental, physical, and emotional stability. When you start exercising, you are not only improving your physical health, you are getting rid of negative emotions as well. Start exercising at least thrice a week and you will feel better about yourself. It was in group that I would learn how to connect with other people and not be so afraid of them. I have no doubt that the single most powerful tool I had in my healing was my support groups. Without those women I could have never experienced the love and acceptance that Jesus wanted me to experience. I had never been comfortable in groups and didn't make friends easily. I was afraid of people, especially women. But in the group I learned to trust safe people; I learned to tell my story. I learned to confront my husband and I learned to tell him what I wanted and needed. I acquired incredible courage and conviction. As I healed spiritually I began to heal emotionally and relationally as well. Sitting at a desk at work and typing for long periods can put a large strain on many different parts of this system.

For instance, sitting at a desk causes forward protrusion of the neck, which can result in not only cervical or neck issues but also upper back and shoulder issues. The counterbalance is to keep the shoulders relaxed and the neck from leaning forward, while sitting with the pelvic muscles flexed and keeping the feet flat on the floor. Sitting for long periods also causes tightening of the hip flexors and weakness in the gluteal and abdominal muscles. This can lead to stiffness and inflexibility and can impact our spinal discs. It also causes instability and increases the risk of falling. Yoga poses can combat these issues with their focus on lateral movement, extension of the spine, and balance. Imagine how good you feel when you do a light stretch after a prolonged period of sitting; Diaphragmatic breathing, which is a form of breathing practiced during yoga, can utilize shoulder, thorax, and abdominal muscles more efficiently if done periodically during the work day. In fact, one meta-analysis showed an improvement in lung flow for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) when they practiced yoga. Your self-esteem will get a healthy boost when you can develop your physical image. A person who is mentally tough knows the importance of exercising and will make sure that they are getting their quota of The endorphin high that you experience after exercising can lend your perspective some much-needed positivity. They get sufficient sleep Sleep is quite essential if you are trying to improve your mental toughness. While you are sleeping, your brain starts working on removing all the toxic proteins that are produced because of the neural activity that takes place while you are awake. Well, your brain can do this only when you are asleep. They are always positive Reading news these days has become a sad affair. Mass killings, suicide bombings, violence, crippling economies, failing companies, and plenty of environmental mishaps. Then I was led to another group where I would go deeper into my recovery process and I could be more explicit about my abuse and my marriage.
